Son of Joe Zoeller, Sr., brother of Frank Zoeller. Played with Orlando in 1922.

Identified from his time with Regina under manager Charlie Stis in 1914.

Joe Zoeller was one of seventeen players identified on the roster for the St. Louis Federals in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on May 2, 1913 (pg. 18). Four days later he made his professional debut on Opening Day in left field, going 0-3 at the plate. After the opening series in St. Louis, he went with the club on the road to Covington, where he started the first game of the series there on May 9. That was his final game for the Terriers. Manager O'Connor, seeking more experienced players, signed Dusty Miller and Chick Waters, and Zoeller was released and sent back to St. Louis.

During his brief stint with the Terriers, Zoeller was not identified by his first name, but the following season, he followed Charlie Stis to Canada to play for Regina in the Western Canada League. "Joe Zoeller, outfielder, left-handed hitter, played with the St. Louis Club of the Federal League club under Stis, batted .360 last season" (Edmonton Bulletin, January 3, 1914, pg. 6). He is later identified as J.W. Zoeller. He was with Regina until July, when he was released. Batting records published in the Calgary Herald indicated he was batting .205 in 35 games at the time of his release (July 13, 1914, pg. 10).

Joseph W. Zoeller shows up in the Census records in St. Louis in 1910. His father, Joseph J. Zoeller played in the minor leagues briely in the early 1900s. Joe's younger brother, Frank also played in the minor leagues starting in 1920. In 1922, while Frank was in Little Rock, Joe went to Little Rock with him to train and wound up signing with Orlando (Arkansas Democrat, May 21, 1922, pg. 8). This was his last stint in professional baseball.
