Came from the semipro club Alpen Braus with pitcher Bishop (St. Louis Globe-Democrat, July 13, 1913).

He is identified as Ray O'Brien in the St. Louis Star on July 13.

O'Brien played six games for the Terriers, playing in place of Jack Collins. He is identified as Ray O'Brien in the St. Louis Star and Times on July 13: "... but in the second Ribby Murphy and Ray O'Brien pulled some weird fielding plays and allowed the Packers the first tally" (pg. 14). The St. Louis Globe Democrat identified Ray O'Brien as the first baseman for the Alpen Braus in the lineup for the club for an upcoming game against the O'Neils (July 27, 1913, pg. 53).

After his final game with the club, on July 12 in Kansas City, O'Brien rejoined the Alpen Braus. He is part of a team photo published in the St. Louis Globe-Democrat on October 5, 1913.

O'Brien joined Davenport in the Illinois-Indiana-Iowa League in 1914, and a few years later had a brief stint in the major leagues. The Decatur Herald and Review mades the connection after his debut with Pittsbugh in 1916.

"Sporting News: If Ray O'Brien, the St. Louis youth taken on by the Pirates from Davenport of the Three-I makes good, then Bill Hinchman will cover first base regularly for the Pirate... O'Brien himself once played first base for the St. Louis Feds, but was developed into an outfielder at Davenport." (July 6, 1916, pg. 4)

Team photo of the 1913 Alpen Braus club with first baseman Ray O'Brien. Scotty Kempin, who joined the Alpen Braus after he was released by St. Louis is also in the photo. Standing next to O'Brien is a player identified as Webb, who is possibly the player who pinch hit on August 18, 1913.
