Manager Leever sent Earl Berger, late of the Philadelphia Nationals, to the mound, and for the first two innings it looked as if he had the measure of the visitors." (Cincinnati Enquirer, May 17, 1913, pg. 9) The Cincinnati Commercial Tribune put Berger's name in quotes, suggesting it was an alias. Earl Moore, of the Philadelphia club, did not appear with the club between May 12 and May 30.

Possibly a pitcher named Wiliam Hamerly, from Pennsylvania, who despite some tryouts around that time doesn't seem to have appeared in a regular season game with any minor league club. Not a misidentification of Emery, who was playing second base the day Emmerly pitched.

Tex Erwin broke his arm in a game against Chicago on June 14, 1913 (Chicago Inter Ocean, June 15, 1913, pg. 25), so he couldn't have played for Covington on June 15. The Rushville Daily Republican reported Earl Harris played both games of the doubleheader for Covington on June 15 (June 16, 1913, pg. 8). The Cincinnati Enquirer lists Harris in the box scores for both games, while the Chicago Inter Ocean has Erwin in the box scores, but credits Harris with two doubles. Erwin is in all box scores for the game of June 16, and then is never heard of again, while Harris remained with Covington/Kansas City into August. Erwin seems likely to have been either a misidentification of Earl Harris, or an attempt at an alias that was not continued.

"Earl Harris, who signed to play right field for the Rushvillle team, but who accepted an offer from the Covington Federal League team and left for Chicago Saturday night, arrived in time to break in both games of a double-header yesterday. Harris was placed at third base and in both games got two hits out of four times up." (Rushville Daily Republican, June 16, 1913, pg. 8) Earl Harris was from Indianapolis. He signed with South Bend for 1912. Probably mididentified as Erwin in first few games with Covington.
